American Airlines Group Inc (NASDAQ:AAL) Teams With JetBlue Airways Corporation (NASDAQ:JBLU) To beat Competition In Northeast
American Airlines Group Inc (NASDAQ:AAL) and JetBlue Airways Corporation (NASDAQ:JBLU) signed an agreement to see the two airlines create seamless connectivity in Northeast. In addition, the partnership will avail more choices to customers through the companies’ complementary domestic and international network. The airlines are separately counting on the partnership to forge a recovery plan in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The two airlines will sell seats to each other as they navigate the worst pandemic in the industry’s history. In response to the pandemic, governments around the world imposed lockdowns and restrictive health protocols. International travel comes to a complete halt as countries lock their borders to curb the spread of the virus.
The agreement also proposes codeshare and loyalty benefits to boost services offered by each airline in New York and Boston. This way, the partnership will offer strategic growth and drive value to customers of both airlines.
New routes from the Northeast
The partnership will allow the two companies implement sustainable growth for customers in Northeast. This will offer choices for customers from JFK and Philadelphia (PHL). To maximize the agreement, American Airline intends to launch flights between JFK and TLV in addition to seasonal services between JFK and ATH. The airline is working to capitalize on growing local demand. The nonstop direct flight to TLV and ATH from JFK will be America’s first long-haul international flight from New York in more than four years.
More choice and loyalty benefits
The two airlines have launched a codeshare relationship that will allow customers enjoy seamless access to more destinations. Through the codeshare program, JetBlue customers will access more than 60 new destinations operated by American Airlines. On the other hand, American customers will access more than 130 new destinations operated by JetBlue. Codesharing allows customers combine flights from different airlines. It allows one-stop check-in experience and assures customers of a seamless flight connecting from origin to top final destination.
