AT&T is moving to cut operational costs
AT&T’s move to sell Crunchyroll is its latest move to trim down operational costs. The company implemented a number of measures to bring its costs down. AT&T announced massive layoffs that started last week at WarnerMedia. The layoff is in response to drop in revenue at the WarnerMedia segment.
To further cut costs and generate income, AT&T is mulling selling Warner Brothers’ gaming unit to potential clients like Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI), Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA), and Take Two Interactive. It is said that AT&T is asking $4 billion for the gaming unit.
Pascal Desroches, AT&T’s Chief Financial Officer, recently told employees that the telecommunication company will be selling the CNN Center in Atlanta. The move to sell the CNN Center is part of the company’s strategy to centralize its employees following the acquisition of Time Warner Inc.
In response, WarnerMedia, AT&T’s entertainment unit, announced that it will shift most of its 1,200 employees working at the center to its Techwood campus in Atlanta in an exercise that is likely to take a couple of years.
