Intel Corp (NASDAQ:INTC) To Release 11th Generation rocket Lake-S Processors In March
With CES 2021 approaching Intel Corp (NASDAQ:INTC) could likely reveal the 11th generation Rocket Lake-S, desktop processors. But the latest MSI leak has indicated that that the launch could be ways away from expected.
Intel to launch Rocket Lake S in March
This is according to a customer support forum post on Twitter spotted by @harukaze5719, sourced through Danawa Forums. However, it is important to point that the reveal is based on an unofficial forum machine translation and this should be treated with caution. The translation indicates that the 400 series which include H410, B460, and Z490 that currently support 10th generation processors will support the 11th generation CPU with the Z490 being the first to be updated. Most importantly Intel expects to launch the 11th generation processors at the end of March and plans to update each independently before release.
The confirmation that the processors will be supported by the 400-series motherboards is not something new but rather a confirmation. Equally the confirmation of the launch date could be mere speculation and nothing concrete. A reply to the Twitter thread by Pc Gamer indicated that the comment has been edited with clarification regarding the timeline for launch as being just “international rumor.” Nevertheless, it appears like Intel is getting closer to the launch of the 11th generation processors even if the company doesn’t showcase them at the CES 2021 as initially anticipated. Intel is yet to comment on the launch dates of the processors.
Intel wants shorter generations
The company’s Comet Lake-S processors launched in May 2020 which implies that expecting the company to launch the 11th generation processors under a year could be somehow unrealistic. This could be shorter than the launch of most of its previous generation CPUs. Interestingly the Comet Lake processors were a stopgap generation meant to bring new chips to the market considering the Coffee Lake Refresh launched in October 2018. It could be possible that the company wants shorter generations this time considering AMD Ryzen 9 5900X is leading the single-core segment.
