Nokia (NYSE:NOK) Launches New Network Operating System Tools For Data Centre Management and Scaling
Nokia (NYSE:NOK) launched a range of data center networking tools developed in partnership with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). The tools will help companies manage growth in traffic as machine learning technologies and 5G network rollout.
Nokia’s NOS tools to help in managing data centers
The modern and new Network Operating System and the intent-based operation and automation tools will enable data center and cloud developers enhance and adapt operations in the phase of 5G. It is expected that with 5G deployment, there will be huge data quantities generated from the household appliance and machines lined to AI tools and sensors, creating the Internet of Things. The tools that include the Nokia Fabric Service Platform and Nokia Service Router Linux® were co-developed with Apple to enable organizations manage fast data traffic growth. Already Apple is deploying tools at its data centers.
Nokia has been in the race to build 5G networks and faces competition from Ericsson and Chinese giant Huawei. The Finish Company has been expanding its portfolio of products by launching new networking tools and open interfaces to 5G equipment. With the massive demand for cloud-based applications and new technology such as machine learning, AI, VR/AR could builders will need these networking tools to monitor and operate data centers.
New tools to help companies with hyperscale data centers
Steve Vogelsang, the company’s CTO for IP and Optical business, stated that they have partnered with Apple in the past two years to come up with the offering. Companies running huge data centers called hyperscales such as Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL), Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB), and Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) will benefit greatly from these tools.
With the new offerings, Nokia seeks to share the $12 billion markets currently dominated by Arista, Juniper, and Cisco. Equinix Network Architecture senior director, Muhammad Durran, stated that they are pleased to see Nokia enter the data center networking industry. He stated that the company developed an easily extendible and open data center NOS that will help companies manage data centers.
