PayPal Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:PYPL) has signed multi-year partnerships with INROADS, CodeHouse, and the National Association of Black Accountants for the development and hiring of black and diverse talents.
PayPal partners to support the hiring of blacks and minorities
The partnerships the company signed are part of the $535 million commitment PayPal announced in June last year, including, enhances its internal Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging initiatives. The company had also committed to supporting the hiring, recruitment, and career development of Black and minority employees.
Tracy Brown, PayPal’s global talent head, said that its mission is democratizing financial services, which is essentially inclusive. Besides promoting inclusivity, the company also demands equity and diversity. Tracy said that each of the organizations the company has partnered with is dedicated to creating career pathways for minorities and people of color. Therefore, working with the partners will help PayPal build a pipeline that can increase recruitment and underrepresented talent retention.
PayPal strengthening its inclusivity in hiring
Since it became an autonomous company in 2015, PayPal has been working with academic institutions, advocacy groups, and recruiting agencies to attract, retain and develop diverse talent. Most importantly, the partnerships expand the company’s talent pipeline and offer mentoring, development, and skill-building openings. Besides the partnerships, the company has been enhancing its inclusive hiring process by implementing practices that help mitigate unconscious and conscious biases and blind spots in the hiring processes. This ranges from job description writing to reviewing resumes and conducting interviews.
Ernest Holmes, CodeHouse’s co-founder, and president indicated that with the technology industry looking to diversify the talent pipeline, this is the right time to inspire young black people to pursue STEM careers. He added that through the partnership with PayPal, CodeHouse will enhance its scholar’s existing talent and prepare them for future careers.
INROADS’ CEO Forest Harper also indicated that they are delighted to partner with PayPal to close the opportunity and disparity gaps for underrepresented talented students. He added that working together will help advance racial equity and create opportunities where diverse and black students can thrive.
