Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) Business Partners With Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) to Launch Indoor 5G Cells
Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) Business and Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) have launched commercial indoor 5G after successful pilots in September.
The companies have commenced in-building cell site installations for enterprise customers thus advancing it from proof-of-concept to scalable and commercially available solutions in months. The first deployments will occur at Verizon’s retail outlets to offer a fast 5G Ultra Wideband experience for employees and customers. The companies also plan to deploy the 5G network at WeWork locations nationwide.
WeWork to receive the first indoor 5G cells
Tami Erwin, Verizon Business’ CEO said that they believe that customers deserve advanced 5G tech to offer superior and differentiated services. He said that the company has quickly moved from proof-of-concept to a commercially available solution that is scalable for enterprise customers. Erwin added that the unprecedented 5G Ultra Wideband performance is not only a growth investment but also a major step in customer’s digital transformation.
Among the first companies that have signed an agreement with Verizon to offer Corning’s indoor 5G cells is WeWork. Around ten WeWork locations across the US are set to initially receive the installations.
