VoIP-Pal.com Inc. (OTCMKTS:VPLM) Stock Continues to Trend Lower: Here is Why
A number of companies have been in the spotlight among investors this week, and yesterday it was VoIP-Pal.com Inc. (OTCMKTS:VPLM), which had been on the radar of investors. Considering the fact that the stock is in focus right now, it may well be the right time for investors to consider taking a closer look at it.
While there was no news about the company yesterday, it ought to be noted that on August 1, it made a significant new announcement. At the time, the company had announced that it had received some favorable decisions from the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. It was revealed that the board had terminated Samsung’s involvement in inter-party reviews (IPRs) filed against a pair of patents from VoIP-Pal.com. Additionally, a request from T-Mobile to petition to join those same IPRs was also denied.
Due to the developments, all the IPR petitions that had been filed against the company were terminated. Since as far back as 2016, the company has been the subject of as many as 28 IPR petitions. The Chief Executive Officer of the company, Emi Malak, spoke about the dismissal of the petitions. He noted that everyone at the company was happy at the dismissal of the IPR challenges that had faced its patents. Malak also said that it was a significant achievement on the part of VoIP-Pal.com that the company survived as many as 28 such petitions without losing even a solitary claim.
He went on to add that other than the IPR issues, the company moved all its legal issues to the Western District of Texas in Waco, and there it would proceed towards the trials against T-Mobile, Verizon, and Amazon.
On July 11, the company came into focus after it provided certain updates with regard to developments in its legal issues related to patent litigation. The company announced that its lawsuits against Meta, Google, and Samsung had been dismissed. As a consequence, all the motions related to the judgment regarding the pleadings under Section 101 of the Northern District of California were terminated.
The motions in question had been filed against the company’s Mobile Gateway patents and eight IPR patents that had been submitted to the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. The company further noted that its motion for reconsideration in the case against Amazon and others had been granted by the court. The final claim construction had also been modified as per a request from VoIP-Pal.com. At the time, the case made an assertion about an RBR continuation patent, and at the time, it was in the discovery phase.
The company announced that a trial was expected to take place in the first half of 2024. The cases against T-Mobile and Verizon continued to progress, and a trial had been scheduled for October 2023, the company revealed. Malak noted at this point that all these developments constituted good news for the company, and the members of the team were pleased with the progress that had been made on all fronts.
